Judge Howard Bagshaw ARPS MPAGB Organisers Sheila Haycox and Alan Boothman
Congratulations to the joint organisers of this event - Alan Boothman and Sheila Haycox. In their capable hands, this competition has gone from strength to strength, with this year seeing an increased entry - and an increased attendance.
Thanks to some careful thought which went into timings and AV lengths, the whole event ran pretty much spot on for time! This also had the effect of attracting some excellent AVs, demonstrating a good level and breadth of expertise from the entrants, which held the audiences’ interest throughout the day.
Judged by Howard Bagshaw, a well respected AV worker and judge at International level, his appraisals were well received and constructive.
Once again, Alan intends to produce a travelling exhibition for clubs to show privately in the region, for which entrants have agreed to allow their work to be used in this way.
The usual refreshments were available throughout the day, with a very enticing raffle which tempted everyone to try their luck at winning one of the prizes.
The full results are shown below, together with gradings provided by Howard after the event.

The gradings are based on the AVs in this competition, relative to each other and are not necessarily related to a national or international standard. Roughly the gradings mean:
A Top quality work which deserves an award. These could be comfortably entered into a national or international competition.
B A good standard of work, competently put together and telling a story, or if a photo harmony, having a sensible flow of competent photographs. The better ones will have received an award in this competition.
C AVs which are weaker in one aspect or another, it might be poor sound, weak photographs or maybe a 'slide show' which does not flow well. It may be possible, with advice to correct some faults, or perhaps learn from them in making the next AV.

The top sequences will be made available, by the authors, to give Western Counties clubs’ the opportunity of seeing a programme at their club meetings. There is a mix of short and long Audio-Visual sequences, together with the top Photoharmony entries.
