On this page you will see a listing of 'Newly Qualified' judges. All have demonstrated their skills at the March 2011 Judging Seminar and we ask Club Competion secretaries to offer competitions to these new judges who are trying to gain experience.

 I have been taking photographs off and on all my life, but only developed a serious interest in making pictures 6 years ago with the purchase of my first DSLR. Since then I’ve become addicted to landscape photography. I have been working on expanding and challenging myself in other areas whilst at the same time improving my computer skills. I am a keen photographer with over 20 years experience and a wide range of interests. Creative, abstract or avante garde images have a special interest as well as travel and architecture. I am currently exhibiting both locally and internationally in the pursuit of further photographic distinctions.

I have spent over 20 years delivering Adult Education City and Guilds courses. Now retired, I give a variety of lectures ranging from Travel to A Beginner’s Guide to gaining FIAP and PSA Awards. My own Preference is for landscape and portrait photography.  I am an experienced photographer of many year’s with a keen interest in all photographic fields. Whether it be macro through to landscapes, I enjoy them all. I have my own studio which allows me to shoot portraits and other still –life. 

                       
I have been a keen photographer for more than 30 years and have utilised film, slides and now digital including substituting software for the darkroom. My primary passions are nature, landscape and travel but I am also interested in a wide range of other subjects. I have successfully submitted to international exhibitions and proactively view exhibitions and other photographers work.

 I first got interested in photography at Art college where I was given a Rollieflex medium format camera to play with and access to a well equipped darkroom. Years later when travelling I bought my first SLR. In recent years I have had my interest revitalised by the development of digital camera and Photoshop.

Regularly judging within the WCPF and other Federations & a member of the team responsible for training and mentoring judges within the WCPF. Involved with Club photography since the 1960’s & a judge since the 1970’s my photographic interests are wide, varied and for the past 6 years have included digital work.

I have been taking photos for over 40 years and am still learning. I am working towards photographic qualifications now that I am retired and have more time.  I am interested in photography as an art and enjoy the wide range of images I see through club, WCPF and RPS events. I am currently Chair of Backwell Camera Club

Special interest wildlife, creative, landscape and sport.. RPS Fenton Medal holder and Honorary Member of the RPS. Judged numerous International and National salons, exhibitions.

Active member of the Bristolian photographic community; project managed two flickL exhibitions for the Bristol Flickr group & am a founding member of the Bristol Strobist group. I have a wide range of photographic interests but tend to focus on street & portraiture. I am intrigued by film & love my View-Master MkII, Yashica TLR & Holga as much as my DSLR (if not more).

I am an experienced photographer and judge with a special interest in creative photography. I have no interest in initials after my name but I have had success in various competitions and exhibitions, winning the gold medal in the WCPF mono exhibition in 2010. I not only judge but I have a talk on creative photography which also includes AV presentations.

Winner of the RPS Open International Slide Exhibition 1984, Exhibitor in the RPS 150th  anniversary Print Exhibition 2006.I have judged Natural History at International level and have considerable experience of judging all forms of photography at Club level - I like seeing other people's work and never tire of it, my interest in photography is undiminished after more than 50 years. I prefer the title "assessor" to judge, and appreciate creativity and originality .

I taught A Level Photography for 7 years before taking early retirement from teaching. I have belonged to Ivybridge & District CC for 5 years.

WCPF lecturer and judge for many years. Special interest audio visual, close-up and natural history photography, but enjoy all photography, mono as well as colour, until eight years ago was still working in the darkroom, but everything now done on the computer. Teach basic computing, and photographic skills, using various photographic software, locally to camera clubs, U3A groups etc.

Used film photography as an adjunct to photomicrography in cytological research (a long time ago) and developed my serious interest from this basis. Have welcomed digital photography with open arms as soon as it became available.Main interest now in colour and monochrome prints. Experimenting with AV

Still working in darkroom. Record work still favourite subject, but I try different aspects of photography. Recently bought DSLR still not sure what I will use it for!!!

I have been in digital photography since their introduction from the small compacts to the pro cameras, before that I have had many Film cameras of all types and formats. I attend many exhibitions within the south west and London museums and galleries, my interests lay with all types of photography including, macro, abstract, portrait, landscapes, history.

Spent many years in the darkroom but am now enjoying Digital work with a fair amount of Mono.

Started Photography when still at school in 1964, doing mono and some colour negs/poss printing. Moved into Digital in 2005 having worked in electronics the computer side was easy for me. I teach both photography and Photoshop at camera clubs and one to one. Have won many cup at camera clubs myself I felt it was time to put my experience to use as a judge. My own work is in Prints, Digital projection and digital AV’s covering a wide range of subjects’ macro to landscapes, Still life to Portraits.

I’ve had a keen interest in photography since a child, and it has continued to grow. My passion is wildlife, nature and equine photography, from which I am now just starting to make a living after going professional 18 months ago. I also love Macro, particularly flowers and insects. I may not have a lot of experience judging, but I have a ‘good eye’ and appreciate other people’s work.

My passion for photography and the visual image leans my eye towards the artist side of photography. I have been interested in photography for over 40 years and became a judge a year ago. For several years I was a “schools photographer” and also covered weddings but my main interest is wildlife photography and have had several successes in open competitions. Travelling is another hobby which has become combined with my photographic interests. 

Lifelong amateur interest in photography. Moved to digital after many years working with film, now exclusively digital. Enjoys photo editing using Photoshop CS5, DxO and Photomatix Pro software programmes. Club Photographer keen to plough something back into a hobby that has given much pleasure.

Aged photographer; for over 60 years! Favourite subjects – landscape, natural and garden flora; but tries to take an objective view of all types of photography. Recently enjoying learning to use Pictures To Exe.

My experience in both colour & Monochrome photography extends to over 40 years embracing digital output at an early stage during the mid nineties has enabled me to gain a thorough understanding of digital input and output. I have been involved with photography, for 56yrs this year. Trained as a professional photographer & professional printer. I have covered all aspects of the profession. Commercial, Press and General. From massive studio work with rostrum cameras, Plate 5x4, Whole plate and two, a quarter square, & Digital For over half a century. Now retired. Bought my first digital camera 1996 Olympus 1200L, 85.000 px’s.

Came to photography via Chemistry age 14 and moved through darkroom and slides to digital over a 50 year period. Mostly a “Photographic Traveller” who records what he sees. An occasional competitor/exhibitor, my artistic tastes are distinctly catholic as a result of visiting art galleries across the world. I judge in a direct, sympathetic way.

Although my hobby has taken me from the darkroom to the computer I am still an avid supporter of the earlier processes that were the basis of photography. I am a WCPF lecturer, member of Bath PS and Kingswood PS, within the WCPF region, and an honorary member of Field End PS in the Chilterns Association. I have judged/lectured from an early age, whilst maintaining a passionate interest in producing most types of images, with an emphasis on prints. Apart from preparing talks, I submit work for a range of exhibitions.

A Club photographer for about twenty years undoubtedly my best year was last year 2010 getting a print accepted in the PAGB annual exhibition plus two in the London Salon made it a very good year for me. My main interest is “people pictures” “ pictorial pictures” and “creative photography”. I started using Photoshop in 1999 and have been “over manipulating” ever since.

Currently Chair of Calne Woodlands CC. My own portfolio is mainly Natural History and Travel, and Lecture extensively on these subjects around WCPF Clubs and many other Organisations. Love all types of Images and fascinated by the continual developments and improvements in Digital Imaging and Presentation.

I have judged all forms of photography for a period of 45 years, starting when living in Scotland, then Plymouth and now Swansea. For 9 years I was on the RPS Nature Panel and was for 16 years the RPS Organiser for South Wales. For this combined service I was awarded the Fenton Medal.

I have been doing photography all my adult life [35 years]. Nowadays, I use exclusively digital, but, when judging, I am solely interested in the result, not the process. I believe that the key to a good picture is the removal of anything that is not necessary to tell the story. In addition to judging, I enjoy presenting talks to camera clubs.
