The following information on requirements for WCPF and PAGB Competitions and Exhibitions supersedes the information in the printed version of the WCPF Manual which was last issued [Issue 2] in January 2008.

The requirements set out in the printed Manual have become obsolete following the now widespread use of digital techniques.

The sections in the Manual on the Constitution and Rules for Elections are currently under review and will be issued separately in due course.

images should be no more than 1050px high. For detailed requirements, refer to the rules issued
for individual competitions or consult the competition organiser.

All photographic processes and techniques are eligible providing that the photographer owns the copyright to all elements of the picture – clipart, copyright free material and fractals are not acceptable.

The terms Monochrome and Colour have the following meanings (based on the definitions issued by the FIAP in 1991).

MONOCHROME PRINTS

A black and white image or one which has been modified by the addition of a single tone to the
entire image is defined as a Monochrome Print.

COLOUR PRINTS

All images other than those above are defined as colour images.

A black and white image which has been modified by the addition of partial toning or by
the addition of one colour to any part of the image is a Colour Print.

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs.

Photographs of animals, which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible.

Minimal evidence of humans is acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves, reclaiming it.

The photographer, whatever photographic medium is used, must have taken the original PDI. Any manipulation or modification to the original PDI must be limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene.

After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all nature photographs.

(revised October 2011)

All entrants must be members of a club affiliated to the WCPF, for which affiliation fees have been paid, and only enter for one club per competition.

All packaging must be adequate for safe return and be clearly labeled.

Individual entry forms must be completed and sent with entries submitted and all further specific requirements adhered to
