FIAP Distinctions Results for 2012.

The 2012 submission of applications for FIAP Distinctions for AFIAP, EFIAP and EFIAP Levels was the largest submission in the history of PAGB and we suspect that it was also the largest ever submitted from any country to FIAP. It is also great news to report that every application was successful.

Criteria requirements for FIAP Awards

EFIAP and EFIAP Levels awards.

Counting Salons:- Reference is made to “circuits”. This is the type of salon that in effect consists of more than one separately selected salon within the one event. So if for example you were to enter 4 images into a section of the salon, they would be subject to selection more than once, in fact in the case of the Trierenberg Super Circuit, four separate times by different panels of Selectors and it is entirely possible for you to gain 16 acceptances from your four entries. Whilst you can claim all those acceptances towards your award, the “Circuit” only counts as one salon for the purpose of assessing how many salons you have achieved.

Counting Countries:- When assessing how many countries you have achieved, you should be aware that England, Scotland and Wales are regarded as different countries. Each will count towards the required total you have to achieve. This is because, whilst members of PAGB, these federations are also individual Operational Members or National Federations affiliated to FIAP. This includes circuits with different countries within them, eg GBSPC: the different countries count.

AFIAP (Artist FIAP) as amended from 01/01/2013.

Your first acceptance must be received at least 12 months before you can be awarded your AFIAP certificate. In this period you are required to gain at least 40 Acceptances with at least 15 different photographs. This success must have come from at least 15 different salons with FIAP Patronage, and those salons must be from at least 8 different countries. A Circuit counts as a single salon.

You will be required to submit a portfolio of five prints to FIAP. These must be of your very best and most successful exhibition work. They are required as prints, regardless of the medium your acceptances have been achieved in.

EFIAP (Excellence FIAP) as amended from 01/01/2013.

To apply for EFIAP you must be the holder of the AFIAP Distinction. You cannot receive your EFIAP award until at least 12 months after the date of your AFIAP certificate. You will be required to have gained (including those used for your AFIAP award) at least 250 Acceptanceswith a total of at least 50 different photographs. This success must have come from at least 30 different salons with FIAP Patronage, and those salons must be from at least 20 different countries.

You will also be required to submit a portfolio of five prints to FIAP. These must be of your very best and most successful exhibition work. They are required as prints, regardless of the medium your acceptances have been achieved in. They must not include any submitted in your AFIAP portfolio.

EFIAP LEVELS

You must be the holder of the EFIAP or MFIAP award before you can apply for an EFIAP Level award and have held that for at least a year. There are four„Levels‟, Bronze

(EFIAP/b), Silver (EFIAP/s), Gold (EFIAP/g) and Platinum (EFIAP/p) and each must be obtained in sequential order shown here.. That means you cannot apply for Silver unless you have achieved Bronze and so on through Gold to Platinum. There must also be a twelve month period between applications for different Level awards.

The first thing to be aware of is that none of your acceptances or photographs used at AFIAP and EFIAP count towards EFIAP Levels awards. The acceptances for these awards has to be from new works (photographs) and only acceptances and awards gained after the date of your EFIAP certificate will count. That being said, once you have crossed this „barrier‟ or line then the whole of the EFIAP levels process in relation to acceptances and „different photographs‟ is accumulative, meaning that the totals for the higher levels includes those you have achieved for the lower EFIAP Levels awards. The following table sets out those targets.

For the EFIAP/b 75 acceptances with at least 25 different works

For the EFIAP/s 150 acceptance with at least 50 different works

For the EFIAP/g 300 acceptances with at least 100 different works

For the EFIAP/p 600 acceptances with at least 200 different works

So the above involves a simple doubling up process, in that having achieved Bronze you then need a further 75 acceptances from 25 more works for Silver, to make the total of 150 from 50 and so on up the scale. For EFIAP Levels Awards you will also be required to submit a portfolio of PRINTS. Once again the Portfolio must be of prints, regardless of the medium that you gained your acceptances in. However for FIAP Levels applications these prints must be from AWARD winning photographs and to have received awards in a varying number of different countries (for interpretation of „countries‟ see the notes for AFIAP).

The following table sets out the requirements for the different levels.

EFIAP Bronze 3 photographs awarded each in different countries

EFIAP Silver 4 photographs awarded each in different countries

EFIAP Gold 5 photographs awarded each in different countries

EFIAP Platinum 6 photographs awarded each in different countries

The awarded photographs required here are NOT accumulative and in each case these photographs must be different from those submitted as awarding winners for other Levels distinctions, and from those included in portfolios for AFIAP or EFIAP.

Changes to AFIAP and EFIAP Criteria July 2012

In addition to the previous changes applicants will now be subject to a requirement that 10% of the required acceptances for AFIAP (4) and for EFIAP (25) must be gained with PRINTS, as opposed to PDI.

You are currently required to submit a portfolio of 5 of your accepted photographs with an application. These, regardless of what media you used to obtain the acceptances must be in the form of quality large digital files (longest side 3600 pixels) and be submitted on a CD. Additionally each of the 5 photographs that you include in your portfolio must have received at least 3 acceptances in FIAP patronised salons.
Changes to MFIAP Criteria
A candidate for MFIAP must be the holder of the EFIAP distinction for at least

THREE years, based on the date of his/her EFIAP Certificate. In this context remember that MFIAP applications are currently assessed each year the April meeting of the FIAP Directory Board.

Other points of a more general nature

The same work submitted to different salons under FIAP Patronage or to FIAP Biennials must always bear the same title.

Photographs that are submitted without a title, with the title "untitled" or anything of a similar nature will not be accepted by the Distinctions Service when considering applications for awards.
