We know from Ian’s sequences shown at the end of our competition, the level of his expertise, so this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know how to use the AV software to improve your sequences.

2011 AV Competition

W.C.P.F. AUDIO VISUAL COMPETITION APRIL 9TH 2011 AT THE CLYST St MARYS VILLAGE HALL

The competition in (2011) will be rather different from previous years, as I have taken into consideration all of the suggestions made by you the members, about your competition.

By far the most requested was a reduction in the cost of entering and attending, so the charges for 2011 will be .....  £5 per sequence to include tea/coffee & entry for 1 competitor  a maximum of two entries per individual or group, so if you, or your group enters 2 sequences it will cost you £10 ..  last year that would have cost you £21.50 next year only £10 ...  For visitors, tickets will be £5.50 pp  including tea/coffee. If you are entering a group sequence with many contributors, only 1 contributor is free the rest have to pay.

There will be no catering as in previous years, so bring a packed lunch, but I may be persuaded to do a cream tea for the afternoon if asked.

I have been hearing a lot about the International 3.2.1 AV competition, and how popular the format is with many of you, that I have changed the concept of our competition to reflect the fact that shorter sequences are now very popular, an average of 8 minutes for our last competition.

The categories for the 2011 competition will be:

The M.A.D. Trophy  for the Audience Popular Vote.

The Innovation Award. For, in the judge’s opinion, something different.

*** NEW ***  Section 1 The up to 4.59 competition. For Individual / group sequences entries of less than 4 minutes 59sec long.

*** NEW *** Section 2 The 5 to 10 competition. For Individual / group sequences entries of between 5 & 10 minutes long.

Individual entrants may enter 2 sequences, and also be part of a group entry of many contributors. The same group may also enter 2 sequences. All contributors to sequences must be listed.

There will no longer be a “ Club “ entry or competition.

The Coote Challenge Cup will be awarded to the winner of Section 1

The Presidents Salver will be awarded to the winner of section 2

Rules, well they’re just as above. I can’t promise that the cost of entering will continue to be as low as it is this year, but will keep the costs down as much as I can in the future.

Don’t forget the A.V. Tutorial Day with Ian Bateman in Bideford on November 6th £10 pp for the day. All the details have been sent to club secretaries for distribution, it’s going to be in the E news letter, and it’s already on the W.C.P.F. Web site, with a downloadable ticket request form.    A.V. Secretary  Carole Attrell

Trophies for the Audio Visual Competition are;-
The Coote Challenge Cup for individual entries,
The President's Salver for Club entries,
The MAD Trophy for the audience Popular vote and The Innovation Award
